Goodbye, LJ!

Dear you if you're reading this :) I haven't posted in a while and am getting less and less interested in LJ (except for the occassional fic reading or icon hunt) so I've decided to stop using LJ as a personal blog. I'm going to start using Tumblr for personal posts, as well, seeing as I'm completely addicted to it and am pretty much always online there whenever I'm on my laptop. I've advertised for my Tumblr here before, but if you haven't got a chance to find and/or follow me: I'm http://to-lick-a-fro.tumblr.com :D

I might comment here and there once in a while when I read an entry, but don't count on it. Sorry guys! I'm sure I'll be able to stay in touch with most of you in other ways (you can also follow me on twitter, I'm @panthouse, although I mostly tweet in Dutch).

See you around!

Starkid Potter Picspam!

Starkid Potter Picspam!

Yes, that's right. I decided to do a Starkid picspam, because all the Starkids are supermegafoxyawesomehot. And I'm totally obsessed by them at the moment so I just had to. Enjoy and comments are always loved :D

Through here! Warning: VERY IMAGE HEAVYCollapse )

I have a desperate need to vent so I'm going to abuse my LJ page. Hope you don't mind, but I really need to write this down because I won't be able to sleep if I don't. Like I'm not writing enough in november :')

It's nothing serious so don't worry. Those of you who like theatre and/or Shakespeare (aren't the two sort of inseperable?) should definitely keep reading. Those of you who voted Wilders should probably close the browser. Or not.

For the first time in AGES, I went to the theatre tonight to see a PLAY. An actual play. The last time I did that was in high school, probably about four or five years ago, and I did so because I had to, not because I wanted to. We went to see a Bertolt Brecht play back then, which was both too incoherent and too weird for me to understand. I'd love to see it again now though, to see whether or not I'd understand it now I'm older and, hopefully, wiser.

Anyway, not the point. Tonight, we (= Carina, Margot & me) went to see HAMLET. Awesome, right? A real Shakespeare play, to see it performed live and everything... I was very excited. And I was right to be so. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Seriously, I don't understand WHY I didn't go see a play before. I loved EVERYTHING about it. The stage, the performance, the play itself, the way it was translated into a more modern setting without violating the original story - E V E R Y T H I N G. ;lhasdpofihawefolhasd;lkfaskdjfljk I can't even BEGIN to tell you how awesome it was, no words of mine would do it any justice. You know I'm going to do it anyway, but just so you know: IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER.

First of all - the actors deserve all the credit in the world. They were absolutely incredible. Especially the guy who played Hamlet, he was unbelievable. The parts where Hamlet pretends he's crazy were SO good. And the guy who played Horatio reminded me of Neil Patrick Harris (especially his physique), he was incredibly good as well. The relationship between Horatio and Hamlet was cuuuuuute I never thought of it that way. Horatio obviously had a crush on Hamlet, so sweeeeet (*spoiler alert!* en op het eind, toen Hamlet dood was, zei hij 'tot ziens, prinslief' d'awwwwwwwwwwwww *einde spoiler alert!*).

The man who played Polonius also needs some credit here, he was PERFECT for the part. You could see he was a very trained and skilled actor, he never overacted (which is dangerous even in theatre, or maybe especially in theatre) but didn't keep it too quiet either. Incredible.

Also, I couldn't believe how FUNNY it was. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. I was afraid I wouldn't catch my breath again, ever. I had not expected that at all because Hamlet, as most of you probably know, is a typical tragedy.

The decor was AHMAHZING. It moved and was used in all the right places and at the right moments. The play had a nice, sort of quick pace without getting too fast to follow. Hamlets monologues were used as key scenes as well as resting points for the whole of the play. Overall, you could see they'd thought of EVERYTHING. Every tiny little detail was considered. And that made it even better.

The only appropiate reaction here is probably a keyboard smash.

If this play, in this form, comes anywhere NEAR you, please go see it. Maybe ESPECIALLY people who voted Wilders should see this. It will make them realise that art's not just a hobby. You need it. It changes lives, it makes life more useful, colourful, worth living for. Gosh I'm fangirling. Kill me now.

Neil Patrick Harris Picspam

I finally did the NPH picspam I've been meaning to do for ages! I love this guy, he's incredibly talented yet so humble. I'm sure he and David will be great dads. Enjoy :)

I love magic.Collapse )

Hammer meet nail

+ So I'm pretty much settled here in Zwolle :) All my stuff's unpacked and I'm getting familiar with where everything is. If you want to see what it looks like, you should click here!Collapse )

+ I also took two self portraits this week, and I'd like to show them to you.Collapse )

+ Joss Whedon is my new hero. I finally watched Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog this week and I LOVED IT. And not just because of NPH (but he was brilliant of course <3333), also because the writing was BRILLIANT. The songs, the dialogue, the entire plot - hilarious, heartbreaking and simply amazing. I think it's my new favourite superhero story (and that's saying much, because that category also has Iron Man and Watchmen in it).

+ I'm leaving for Stiens this afternoon. That's where my best friend's parents live, and she and I are going to spend the night there. It's close to Holwerd, where we'll catch the ferry to Ameland tomorrow :) I'll be on Ameland for a week so you'll have to miss me for a while! I'm sure you'll be fine haha. I'll be back with a lot of pictures and stories!

Netherlands - Japan

WE WON! I'm not going to say too much about this game because it was actually pretty sucky XD But we won and that's all that matters :D :D

Let me share my excitement with you:

30 day movie meme

Day 03 - A movie that makes you really happy

Happy Feet (2006)
It's in the title! Haha. This movie is SUCH a feel good movie. I saw it in the cinema when it came out and instantly fell in love with anything penguin-like. The music was great, the story was moving and the (voice) actors were amazing (ROBIN WILLIAMS FTW). Also, I loved the tap dancing, something I'd never expected! :D

Day 02 - The most underrated movie

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait Of Diane Arbus (2006)
I know it's hard to believe, but I'm not just pimping this movie because it has RDJ in it. It's a good enough reason to go see it for sure, but it's an incredible movie in itself. I don't really know anything about Diane Arbus, except that she was a photographer, but this movie is just so poetic and amazing. If you like extraordinary and possibly 'weird' movies, this is something you don't want to miss.

LOST: the end

If you haven't seen the series finale yet, you shouldn't read this because it's one big spoiler.Collapse )

Day 01 - The best movie you saw during the last year

P.S. I Love You (2007)

I suppose I can include movies that weren't actually released in 2009, right? This was probably the best movie I saw last year, although it was a tie between this one, Watchmen and Dead Poet's Society. But I think I can squeeze the other two in somewhere during this meme :P
